After School Academy

During the first week of school, students will be able to visit club rooms and the sponsors to learn more about the club.
Club attendance will officially begin during the second week of school. Students must be paid in full in order to attend and participate in the club/sport/organization.
All Harmony After School Activities will begin at 4:00pm and run until 5:00pm. Sports teams may practice longer than 5:00pm.
Payments for clubs can be made through RevTrak (select "Apply" to be taken to RevTrak where multiple clubs can be found and selected for payment) or by check (Make check payable to: Harmony School of Innovation-Garland)
Students are advised to sign up for one club per day.

Purpose: Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) offers 58 competitive events, ranging from skill-based to leadership and team-based. The event groups are as follows: Health science, health professions, leadership, and recognition events. Members compete at the regional, state, and international levels. Those who place in the top three positions at the state level are given the opportunity to compete at the international level.

Purpose: The competition is divided into four stages: school, chapter, state, and national. The problems increase in difficulty between levels—perfect scores are relatively common at the school-level, while winners of the written round at the national-level do not often achieve a perfect score. Each school is allowed to register ten students, including a group of four designated as the school team.

Purpose: HPS-wide Competition - Presented in partnership with FTW Robotics and Rice University, HPS Drone Race is the perfect event offering elementary, middle school and high school students an opportunity to get hands-on experience in STEM education in the form of an affordable, fast-paced game. Students will learn to safely operate a drone, work as a team, and research workforce applications of aerial robotic technology; all while having a blast!

Purpose: CyberPatriot is a national youth cyber education program created in the United States to help direct students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines. The program was created by the Air Force Association (AFA). It features the annual National Youth Cyber Defense Competition for high school and middle school students. It is similar to its collegiate counterpart, the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC), especially at the CyberPatriot National Finals Competition.

Purpose: Service Leadership Society (SLS) is a club for students to explore meaningful public policy topics, conduct research, form opinions, and develop a “bill” to address the selected public policy issue. Throughout the bill design process, students will learn the intricacies of Texas’ legislative process including how a bill becomes law. During the spring semester, SLS clubs gather for a state conference to present bill drafts to their peers and have the opportunity to debate and vote on all bills. Using the Capitol setting as a “living classroom,” the student led, student driven program promotes awareness to the political process, creates a more politically astute student body, and develops constructive solutions to issues that impact local communities while engaging stakeholders in government. Throughout the year, participants meet weekly to sharpen their research skills, form arguments for and against a solution, and practice public speaking skills. SLS clubs also host elected officials and their staff to learn more about careers in public service and the legislative process.

National Art Honor Society (NAHS)

Purpose: The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) is a program for high school students who excel in the visual arts, fostering their artistic talent and promoting art within their schools and communities. Established in 1978 by the National Art Education Association (NAEA), it recognizes outstanding artistic achievement, scholarship, character, and service.
Key aspects of the NAHS:
Membership: Students in grades 9-12 who demonstrate artistic talent, scholarship, leadership, service, and good character are eligible to apply.
Benefits: Membership provides opportunities for peer recognition, leadership growth, college and career preparation, and participation in events like the Juried Exhibition and the NAHS News.
Purpose: The NAHS aims to inspire and recognize students' artistic abilities, foster creativity, promote art education, and encourage members to reach their full potential in the arts.
Connections: The program also offers exclusive online events and resources for members, including artist talks and instructional materials.
Scholarships: NAHS members may be eligible for scholarships, such as the National Art Honor Society Member Scholarship from the NAEA.

Purpose: To provide an environment for students to collaborate, socialize, be creative, learn cooking skills, have fun, and inspire others to pursue their Culinary Dreams. Further, the goals of this club are not only to cook these meals as a community of students but also to help spread knowledge about food through teaching and exploring the different aspects of the Culinary Arts; bring awareness, and dedicate our time to food justice and sustainability, advocating for the right to healthy, wholesome, nutritious, and fresh food.
